-27th March 2011 - A Night at the Movies Concert - Our first concert of the year and Oh what a night it was. A huge variety of movie themes were played from 633 Squadren to The Blues Brothers to Gabriels Oboe from The Mission. The concert was complimented by a Movie Quiz with questions throughout the night. There was a mystery prize promised to the winner of the quiz....little did the audience know that the winner was to conduct the Great Escape!!
The band said farewell and Good Luck to two of its members during the concert, Louise & Joel as they embark on their new venture in Cambridge.
The whole concert was recorded, both audio & video. CD's and DVD's of the concert will be available to Band members and their family's soon!
-March 2011 - New Members - NECB would like to welcome their new members who have joined us over the last few months. - Charlotte Jones - Flute, Liam Jones - Clarinet, Paul Thompson - Tenor Saxophone, Christina Tyley - Clarinet, Danielle Curran - Trumpet, Ester Shearad - Bassoon.
-March 2011 - Good Luck to Louise & Joel Davis - NECB would like to wish Louise & Joel Good Luck in their new venture. They are soon to be moving to Cambridge and will be leaving us after our 'Movie Night' concert.
-March 2011 - It has been sad to see some members leave us over the last few months. Kate has gone off to Edinburgh to study Costume Design. Louise and Anne have both left us due to family commitments. Gerry is also taking a break for a while. NECB would like to wish them all well and hope they call in to see us soon.
-February 2011 - Exam Success - Congratulations to Peter Hepplewhite for his Distinction in Grade 8 Clarinet (Trinity Guildhall) and Emily Graham for her Merit in Grade 6 Clarinet (Trinity Guildhall).
-February 2011 - Congratulations to Frances and her husband on the birth of their baby Girl. Emily Alice Hastie arrived on the 10th February 2011. Both mum & baby are doing well.
-January 2011 - It was extremely sad to hear the news of Stan Lane's death. Stan was one of the long standing members of the North East Concert Band, who gave up much of his time over the years.
